Prostatitis in men: symptoms and treatment at home

pain in men with prostatitis

Prostatitis is an inflammation of the prostate (prostate) in men. According to statistics, this is the most common urological disease in the age group of 25 to 50 years. The main causes of the disease can be divided into 2 groups: infectious and non-infectious. In most reported cases, the causes of prostatitis are particularly non-infectious.

Many factors are involved in the development of the disease: smoking, hypothermia, regular alcohol consumption, inactive lifestyle, infections in the genital tract, which eventually spread to the prostate. It can also adversely affect prostate and tight underwear health, allergic reactions, trauma, severe stress, constipation, and prolonged urinary retention.

The stimulus for the manifestation of the disease is usually poor sexual activity or long abstinence. Due to all these factors, hormonal changes occur, blood circulation in the pelvic organs is disturbed and lymph stagnation occurs. This in turn lowers the immune system, making the prostate very vulnerable to infections and viruses.

Prostatitis can be divided into 3 forms: infectious, acute and chronic.

The causative agents of the infectious form can be various types of bacteria, viruses, fungi and Trichomonas. The development of infectious prostatitis usually occurs due to the entry of sexually transmitted infections into the prostate. The most common are infections such as chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea or trichomoniasis. Coming from the urethra and bladder into the prostate through the lymphatic or blood vessels of the pelvis, the infection impedes blood flow to the prostate, causing congestion or (in very rare cases) blood poisoning. But this does not always cause the development of inflammation - it requires the above factors, without which the disease can not manifest itself.

The acute form of prostatitis is the main cause of unpleasant and painful sensations when going to the toilet. The patient often has a fever (up to 40 degrees), chills, weakness, and pain in the perineum. In the acute form, edema of the prostate occurs, due to which normal urination is disturbed. At the first symptoms, you should immediately make an appointment with a urologist, because any delay in treatment can lead to the transformation of the disease into a chronic form. At the same time, in acute prostatitis, the chances of complete recovery are almost always high, although complex treatment is required. It usually includes antiviral drugs, ultrasound, physical therapy, reflexology, and prostate massage.

The chronic form of prostatitis develops 3-6 months after the onset of the acute form, if no treatment is performed. In this form the disease may remain invisible for a long time, but under certain conditions exacerbations are possible. The danger of prostatitis is that it can bring with it other, much more unpleasant diseases: vesiculitis, fibrosis, inflammation of the appendages, and then erectile dysfunction (impotence) and, as a result, infertility.

Treatment of prostatitis with folk remedies

Prostatitis in acute form or with complications is treated only in a hospital under the supervision of a physician. They perform complete diagnostics, PCR, uroflowmetry, perform blood and urine tests, and detect the presence of viruses or dangerous bacteria. And only then, depending on the established reasons, antibiotics, immunostimulants, laser and physiotherapy are prescribed. In severe cases, surgery may be needed.

Treatment of prostatitis at home will be effective only in the absence of complications or with relapse of the chronic form. Usually, folk remedies for prostatitis are designed to reduce pain, increase immunity and help eliminate pelvic edema.

Squats for prostatitis

When the cause of prostatitis is inflammation (rather than a bacterial infection), then there is a possibility that the disease is caused by a violation of the pelvic blood supply, which affects both the prostate and the muscles around it. And there is no better way to restore blood circulation than regular squats. Test yourself first: straighten your arms, raise them above your head and do as many squats as possible.

These should be deep squats "to the end, " that is, so that the pelvis does not stay at knee level and the torso does not lean forward, creating the illusion of performing the exercise. If you can do this exercise 80-100 times, then you have a good chance of recovery. If you quickly develop pain in the legs and pelvis, it is a sure sign of both leg muscle weakness and problems with blood circulation in the prostate and other pelvic organs.

You can’t do this exercise every day, but limit yourself to 3 times a week. If you can’t sit 80 times, try splitting the execution into several approaches: 4 times 20 times, 2 times 40 or 50 times. For maximum efficiency, the break should not be very long - 3-5 minutes.

Try to complete the squats with other exercises:

  • Raise your legs while lying on your stomach (about 20 times per approach), but you should not do this exercise 100 times so as not to overdo it;
  • Do the "scissors": sit on the floor, find an armrest behind your back, lift your legs in the air and cross them, leaving the right and left sides alternately at the top. Don’t overdo it with this exercise either.

Along with squats, these exercises should be given a total of 100-150 times - then the treatment of prostatitis at home will be most effective and medication may not be needed.

Other exercises for prostatitis

  1. Lie on your back, bend your legs and put them on yourself - your knees should reach your face. Lie on your hands around your legs for 3-20 minutes. This exercise to treat prostatitis will also be very effective, but you should be very patient. And the longer you can lie in this position, the better. But don’t overdo it! More than 20 minutes at a time is utterly discouraging.
  2. Perineal massage is also one of the most effective exercises against prostatitis. Do this in the morning, right after bed, to alleviate prostate congestion.
  3. Another effective exercise is done just before the morning meal. Get up to your full height, join your legs and do a third of a regular squat. Freeze in this position and begin to move your knees forward one by one: left, then right. Do this exercise for 5 minutes. You can repeat the same thing in the evening. This is a rather complicated method and may not be easy, but if done regularly, you will get used to it and will be able to not only cure prostatitis, but also carry out its regular prophylaxis.

Pumpkin seeds against prostatitis

Pumpkin seeds have long been popular in the treatment of prostatitis. This is a very powerful, yet affordable and inexpensive folk remedy. They contain a large amount of zinc, which is necessary for a man of any age - his daily portion contains only 30 seeds. Just eat dried seeds before meals every day and you will quickly see improvement.

Another way is to peel half a kilo of seeds and pass them through a meat grinder. The main thing is not to fry, otherwise you will not achieve the desired effect. Add 200-250 grams of honey to them and stir. From the resulting mass make small balls no less and no more than a hazelnut. Store these balls in the refrigerator, storing them in advance before use.

Eat these balls one at a time, half an hour before meals, twice a day. But do not swallow it quickly, but chew it slowly for a few minutes. As a rule, such treatment is very effective, and one course per year will be sufficient to avoid recurrences.

Treatment of prostatitis with hazel

You need bark or leaves to prepare this product - both will be equally effective. You can use them one by one, but it is advisable not to mix them. It is also important to keep in mind that the bark crusts twice as long.

Boil 1 tablespoon of the product in 1 cup of boiling water, cover with a lid and let it cook for half an hour. Then strain and drink a quarter cup 4 times a day. You can use both fresh and cooked 1-2 times for cooking, although fresh, of course, will be more effective. This medication usually helps relieve the symptoms of prostatitis within a week.

Aspen bark from prostatitis

Aspen bark will be just as effective against prostatitis as hazel bark and leaves. To do this, the aspen bark must be collected before the sap flow begins, before the buds and leaves begin to bloom. This usually happens in mid-April. The thickness of the bark can be any, but preferably 3 mm.

The bark should be slightly dried in the shade or in the oven, then take 100 grams, grind and pour into a jar of 0, 5 liters. The crust is topped with 200 grams of vodka, but so that it completely covers it. Then the jar should be tightly closed and allowed to cook in a dark place for 2 weeks. Then strain the tincture through gauze or a sieve.

Use an infusion of 20 drops in a quarter cup of water, 3 times daily before meals. The resulting tincture of aspen is usually enough for about 2 months.

Treatment of prostatitis with wormwood

Wormwood is a wonderful remedy for almost any inflammation in the genital tract as it is very effective in killing a purulent infection. A complete remedy can be prepared from just 100 grams of dried wormwood plant. It must be carefully chopped and sifted through a kitchen strainer. The plant that has passed through it is suitable for taking in dry form - dry wormwood, due to its strong bitterness, acts to cleanse the body, killing all types of infectious agents and parasites.

How is wormwood treated? The algorithm is simple:

  • To begin with, you will have to swallow a pinch of dry crushed grass for the first 3 days, washed with water. This must be done every 2-3 hours, including at night. It doesn’t matter if you do it before or after a meal. It is very important that you cannot take a break during these first 3 days, even during the night. This is a rather difficult procedure, including because of the difficulty in swallowing the bitter plant, but such a course will help you not only in the fight against prostatitis, but also in any other infections.
  • In the second phase, it is necessary to drink wormwood 5-6 times a day, 4 days in a row, taking breaks only for the night.

You must adhere to a strict diet during this course. Otherwise, the strength of the treatment can be significantly reduced.

  • It is desirable to exclude bread or reduce its quantity to 200 grams, but not fresh, but time to "lie down" a little;
  • Eliminate meat, fish, sausages, eggs, sweets, cheese and other dairy products from your diet;
  • Be sure to exclude alcohol and tobacco;
  • But at the same time, you are free to use various cereals, nuts, fruits and sunflower oil.

During the course, you may feel worsening of some latent problems, joint pain and general weakness.

Parsley for prostatitis

Parsley is an extremely healthy plant that has many medicinal properties. This especially includes the ability to stop inflammation and normalize the functions of the genital organs. We use parsley in cooking because of its high taste, but it is actually a powerful medicinal plant and contains many useful trace elements and vitamins.

For example, 100 grams of parsley contains a daily need for vitamin A, which makes parsley very useful for eyesight. At the same time, the content of vitamin C in it is several times higher than in lemon. Also, parsley contains inulin (natural insulin), which effectively regulates blood sugar levels and has a beneficial effect on the intestines.

To fight prostatitis you need to drink a tablespoon of parsley juice 3 times a day for half an hour before meals. You can also use chopped primrose seeds: pour a glass of boiling water over them and let them simmer for 15 minutes. Take the soup 5-6 times a day per tablespoon.

Herbal treatment of prostatitis

An herbal remedy for prostatitis is a very old and proven remedy. For centuries, the recipes used in folk medicine have come down to us virtually unchanged. Below we have listed the most effective of these recipes:

  • Squeeze the juice of celandine from a freshly picked stalk and mix with alcohol in proportions of 1 to 1. Take the infusion in the morning before breakfast. The first time - a drop of infusion in 50 grams of water, and then gradually increase the dosage so that by the end of the month there are already 30 drops.
  • Another recipe for parsley treatment: add cranberries, hawthorn and valerian root to it. The plants should be chopped and mixed, then filled with a glass of boiling water. Then you need to strain the solution through gauze and take half a glass 2 times a day. This infusion will be very effective for the infectious form of prostatitis.
  • To treat prostatitis with cloves, grind the dried plant and pour a glass of boiling water over it. Then everything is done as in the previous recipe: filter the tincture through gauze and use half a cup.
  • Radiola rosea will be extremely effective against chronic prostatitis. Pour a tablespoon of boiling water over a tablespoon of the grated roots of this plant and let it cook for an hour. The tincture is then filtered in half a glass 2 times a day (usually before breakfast and dinner).

It is worth knowing that herbal treatment usually takes much longer than treatment with other methods, including medications. The course usually lasts from one month to six. However, the advantage of herbal treatment for prostatitis is usually that it is very effective in suppressing not only the symptoms, but also the causes of the disease, which are usually hidden from view. In addition, herbs rarely have side effects unless you have allergies, and herbal remedies can be easily combined.

It is also important to remember: when using alcoholic tinctures, it is not recommended to eat them on an empty stomach, especially if you have problems with the gastrointestinal tract.

Prevention of prostatitis

Prevention is always easier and more cost-effective than later treatment. Therefore, you should know a few simple secrets to help you avoid the development and complications of prostatitis:

  • Try not to sit for long without distractions, especially in an uncomfortable position;
  • Avoid hypothermia, especially in the pelvic area;
  • Also, avoid constipation and urinary retention - they greatly contribute to the development of this disease.

Also, regular physical activity that helps improve blood circulation in the pelvic organs will be a very good preventive measure. A proper, well-lubricated diet will also contribute. It should be noted that these points will allow you to avoid many diseases that await a person after 30 years.

Remember, instead of diagnosing and trying treatment at home, you should first consult an experienced therapist! This way you will avoid many troubles and possible complications.
